ASpring of Hope’s inaugural gala ‘A Power of Hope’
ASpring of Hope will host its inaugural gala, “The Power of Hope,” March 21 at 6 p.m. at the Seagate Country Club in Delray Beach. South African Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool, the guest of honor, will share stories of his time with the late Nelson Mandela.
A Spring of Hope is an international organization dedicated to the sustainable development of rural South African communities. The organization partners with rural schools to provide them with clean water sources for drinking, sanitation, irrigation, and food preparation to improve health conditions, combat poverty, promote education and create self-sustainability.
To work toward building community capacity, A Spring of Hope provides instruction in permaculture, sanitation and hygiene at each partner school. In addition, the organization builds long-term relationships with partner schools to support them in a variety of efforts including after school programs and economic development projects. To date, it has supported 18 different rural schools in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces in South Africa.
The gala will feature a South African Braai (grilled dinner), inclusive of sundowners, which are drinks and appetizers at dusk on a game drive. During dinner, guests will enjoy a tasting of South African wines. They will also have the opportunity to bid on live auction items, including an all expenses paid 10-day trip to the Kruger area in South Africa, staying at two five star lodges. Other prizes include a musical dinner with Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks, private flying lessons, a St. Maarten vacation and South African art.
Tickets are $150 per person. For more information, email Joanne@aspringofhope.org.
