John Offerdahl serves up inspiration at YMCA’s breakfast
YMCA of South Palm Beach County’s 12th annual “Inspiration Breakfast” will take place April 8, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. The breakfast, bringing business and community leaders together, will raise funds for the Y’s financial assistance program, which provides everyone, regardless of income, the ability to participate in Y programs. John Offerdahl, former professional football player for the Miami Dolphins and owner of Offerdahl’s Café Grill, will be the keynote speaker.
This year, the event was renamed “YMCA Inspiration Breakfast - A celebration of the Spirit and Mission of the Y” to more accurately describe what occurs. Each year, a top community influencer makes a keynote speech and funds raised are donated to the Y’s financial assistance program.
“The YMCA is thrilled to be hosting our upcoming ‘Inspiration Breakfast’ in April,” said Richard Pollack, president and CEO of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. “It’s a great opportunity to thank our supporters and we hope to create new friendships and inspire volunteers.”
Offerdahl is a five-time Pro Bowl participant and former Miami Dolphins linebacker for more than seven years. Offerdahl was inducted into the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame and added as the 26th member of the “Miami Dolphins Honor Roll” in 2013. He is currently a board member for the National Christian Foundation of South Florida, the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and a member of the Orange Bowl Committee. For the past eight years, John Offerdahl has hosted the “Gridiron Griller” event, which raises money for local charities through food and fun.
Featured guest attending the breakfast is Boca Raton resident Michaela Paige, from season three of NBC’s “The Voice.” Past keynote speakers include U.S. gymnast Shannon Miller, TimTebow’s parents, Wally “Famous” Amos, Amway co-founder Rich DeVos, and Orlando Magic owner and former Florida State University (FSU) football coach Bobby Bowden.
