Leave the tux at home and dine ‘Off the Leash’

Peggy Adams An­i­mal Res­cue League will host “Off the Leash,” a ca­sual din­ner re­cep­tion, April 13 at 7 p.m. at Club Co­lette in Palm Beach. The cel­e­bra­tion will sup­port an­i­mal wel­fare, the crit­i­cal ser­vices pro­vided by the league and ef­forts to place adopt­able an­i­mals in homes. Last year’s in­au­gu­ral event raised $125,000.

The event co-chairs are Nel­lie Benoit, Carol Garvy, Lau­rie Raber Got­tlieb and Joanie Van der Grift. Spon­sors in­clude Vir­ginia S. Burke, Vicky and Sam Hunt, Pauline Pitt, Lesly S. Smith, James Ber­wind, Carol and Bob Garvy, Lau­rie Raber, Steven Got­tlieb, Jane W. Smith, Joanie and Paul Van der Grift, and Ann and Charles John­son.

“We look for­ward to build­ing off the tremen­dous suc­cess of last year’s in­au­gu­ral event to sup­port the crit­i­cal ser­vices the league pro­vides to dogs and cats in our com­mu­nity,” said chair­wom­anNel­lie Benoit. “’Off the Leash’ is also a fun way to fin­ish out the busy Palm Beach sea­son and show our sup­port for the in­valu­able ser­vices pro­vided by Peggy Adams.”

“We ap­pre­ci­ate the tire­less ef­forts by staff and vol­un­teers who ad­vo­cate for the well-be­ing of the an­i­mals in our com­mu­nity and at the shel­ter,” added co-chair­woman Carol Garvy.

Guests, who will be greeted by a re­ceiv­ing line of adopt­able pets, are en­cour­aged to leave jack­ets and ties at home and opt for more a ca­sual at­tire. The evening will in­clude din­ner, dancing, time with four-legged friends and a cel­e­bra­tion of the ac­com­plish­ments of the league.

Peggy Adams An­i­mal Res­cue League pro­vides shel­ter to lost, home­less and un­wanted an­i­mals. The or­ga­ni­za­tion works to care for, pro­tect, and find qual­ity homes for home­less and ne­glected an­i­mals, ad­vo­cat­ing an­i­mal wel­fare, com­mu­nity in­volve­ment and ed­u­ca­tion to fur­ther the bond be­tween people and an­i­mals. Ser­vices in­clude a vac­cine clinic open each day of the week, af­ford­able vac­cine pack­ages, pet iden­ti­fi­ca­tion and mi­cro chip­ping, and be­hav­ior and train­ing cour­ses.
