Tasting culinary creations to raise awareness for childhood hunger
Share Our Strength’s “Taste of the Nation Palm Beach” is set to take place April 23, from7 to 10 p.m., at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The annual tasting event, which supports Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to end childhood hunger in America, will feature Palm Beach’s top chefs, sommeliers and mixologists. More than 600 guests are expected to attend.
This year’s chairs include Zach Bell of Addison Reserve Country Club, Clay Conley of buccan and Imoto, Lindsay Autry from Bravo’s “Top Chef “and Allen Susser of Chef Allen’s.
“No child should grow up hungry in America but unfortunately, more than 16 million kids in this country struggle with hunger including more than 1.1 million kids in right here in Florida. The good news is, we can change that,” said Chef Clay Conley. “I love seeing our local food community come together through ’Taste of the Nation Palm Beach’ to raise the critical awareness and funds needed to makeNo Kid Hungry a reality.”
Supporters of the No Kid Hungry campaign are working ensure all children get the healthy food they need every day by connecting them to nutrition programs, like school breakfast and summer meals, and by teaching families how to cook healthy, affordable meals at home.
Since summer 2011, No Kid Hungry’s efforts to expand access to summer meals and school breakfast have helped connect kids to more than 34 million additional meals. The No Kid Hungry campaign is replicating that success around the country by working collaboratively with its partners to feed millions of American children. In 2013, ‘Taste of the Nation Palm Beach’ raised more than $57,000, which can help connect children in need with up to 570,000 meals.
All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the No Kid Hungry campaign, thanks to support from Sysco, American Express, Food Network, S.Pellegrino Natural Sparkling Water, Lincoln Motor Company, Nespresso, Whole Foods Market, WineWatch, Brickhouse Public Relations, Mike Sipe Entertainment, Panache: a Classic Party Rentals Company, Elan Creative Communications and Clear Channel Media & Entertainment.
