Hold ‘em or punt ‘em for Del­ray Beach Ath­letic Club

Guests can join the Del­ray BeachAth­letic Club (DBAC) May16 - 18 to play casino games, taste wine and/or play soc­cer for a fun­week­end of fundrais­ing.

DBAC, which has pro­vided youth soc­cer pro­grams in the city for the past 36 years, will spon­sor two ma­jor fundrais­ing events to ben­e­fit the club’s schol­ar­ship pro­gram. B.E.A.S.T. Fit­ness of Del­ray Beach, which reg­u­larly trains the club’s young soc­cer play­ers in speed and agility, will spon­sor a third com­mu­nity event that weekend in the club’s honor.

As a non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tion, the Del­ray BeachAth­letic Club is sup­ported en­tirely by player reg­is­tra­tion fees and pri­vate do­na­tions. The club has a time-hon­ored tra­di­tion of of­fer­ing scholarships (re­duced reg­is­tra­tion fees) so that no player is turned away due to fi­nan­cial hard­ship. At­tend­ing one or all of the events dur­ing the weekend will help al­low the club to con­tinue of­fer­ing these op­por­tu­ni­ties.

The­week­end’s first event, “Vino LasVe­gas,” will take place May16 from7 to10:30 p.m. at the Del­ray Beach Cen­ter for the Arts at Old School Square in the his­toric gym­na­sium. The evening will in­clude casino games and prizes, Texas Hold ’Em poker, fin­ger foods, wine tast­ing and craft beer from Salt­wa­ter Brew­ery in Del­ray Beach. Prizes will be awarded for first, sec­ond and third place Texas Hold ’Em play­ers, with a grand prize value of more than $1,000. Com­pli­ments of B.E.A.S.T. Fit­ness, the “Fam­ily Fit­ness Fun Day” will take place May17 from 11a.m. to1p.m. at the Del­ray Beach Com­mu­nity Cen­ter (next to Ten­nis Cen­ter). The day will in­clude fit­ness com­pe­ti­tions, raf­fles and is free to the pub­lic. Kids and adults are wel­come.

The in­au­gu­ral Del­ray Beach Cor­po­rate 5 v 5 tour­na­ment, “Just for Kicks,” will take place May18 from3 p.m. un­til early evening at Seacrest Soc­cer Com­plex and Hill­top­per Field. Eight lo­cal com­pa­nieswill field teams and com­pete for the cham­pi­onship. Teams will con­sist of seven em­ploy­ees, in­clud­ing at least twowomen, plus two play­ers fromDBAC’s U14 boys’ team. “5 v 5” soc­cer is a fast-paced game played on a smaller field with just five play­ers fromeach team on the field at any time.
