Community invited to celebrate ‘Chanukah Under the Stars’ with Temple Beth El
Temple Beth El of Boca Raton will host its signature “Chanukah Under the Stars” event Dec. 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton. This community event will begin at 5 p.m. with a children’s area that includes bounce houses, face painting, hair wraps, crafts and PJ Library storytelling.
At 6 p.m., Young Children’s Chanukah Shabbat and songfest will take the stage, and from 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a variety of food available to purchase from Temple Beth El’s caterers, including Artisan Foods, Chez Gourmet and Haute Cuisine, Fit Foodz Cafe, Veggie Express, Pizza Girls and Good Humor Ice Cream.
The Chanukah and Shabbat service will begin at 7:30 p.m., featuring the temple’s clergy: cantorial soloists Lori Shapiro, Lawrence Dermer and Michelle Auslander Cohen; and Rabbi Dan Levin, Rabbi Jessica Spitalnic Brockman and Rabbi GregWeisman. The event will also feature Temple Beth El’s adult chorale Shir Ruach and the Shir Joy youth choir for grades 3-6, accompanied by professional musicians.
“The celebration of Chanukah brings light into the darkest time of the year,” said Levin. “It is our hope that the entire community will share in our congregation’s celebration of the Festival of Lights. We deliberately chose the Mizner Park Amphitheater so that everyone in our community will feel welcome to celebrate this festive time with us.”
”Chanukah Under the Stars” was introduced in 2010, and in 2012, the event featured nearly 4,000 guests in attendance. This year, the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County is supporting the celebration through its Jewish outreach grant, and Sanford and Marion Goldstein will be honored for their long-time support of the temple. The co-chairwomen for this event are Tracey Grossman and Gina Shugar.
