Presidential party FAU gala celebrates president’s first anniversary with the school
This year’s annual Florida Atlantic University gala is different from others in the past. The March 21 event will celebrate the university’s president, John Kelly.
Kelly was named the seventh president of FAU on Jan. 17, 2014. He and his wife, Carolyn, asked to forego a traditional inauguration and instead combine a celebration with the gala to drive funds to the Kelly Family Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for students with demonstrated financial need.
“The gala is an opportunity for our friends in the local community to join us in celebrating the anniversary of President Kelly’s first year at FAU while raising funds to support student scholarships,” said Stacy Volnick, interim vice president for institutional advancement. “It promises to be an evening of fun, food and entertainment for a good cause.”
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Martin F. and Jane Greenberg Foundation Tower of FAU Stadium, 777 Glades Road, on the Boca Raton campus. The gala will be spread over three levels of beautiful suites, clubs and outdoor areas, and will dazzle the senses with gourmet dining, full open bar, live music, a “halftime” extravaganza with fireworks and a silent auction. Entertainment will include a performance by Emil & Dariel Rock Cellos, who made a name for themselves as finalists on the latest season of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Emil attended FAU through his high school dual-enrollment program prior to his time on the show.
