Stallings erratic

Scott Stallings, who had a hole-in-one Thursday, started strong Saturday with an eagle on No. 3, but went on to shoot a 1-over 71 with three bogeys on the back nine.

“You don’t make putts, you don’t score,” he said as he hustled off to the practice green.

Stallings noted that his hole-in-one on No. 15, the initial Bear Trap hole, was the “first one in 30 years on that hole.”

No. 15 is designated for awarding a new Honda CR-V to the first player to record a hole-in-one on it, and Stallings is the first to do so since the tournament moved to PGA National in 2007.

“We’re still to be determined about the car. I haven’t heard anything from the tournament,” he said after Saturday’s round. “It’s just a matter of time. They’ve got enough stuff to worry about right now.”
