Pompano edges Gibbons

Pompano Beach’s softball team came away with a 10-9 victory over Cardinal Gibbons in the District 14-5A semifinals in a nine-inning contest on Monday.

Down two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning with the bases loaded, Pompano Beach’s Kristina Kassis hit the game-winning double to seal the victory for the Tornadoes. Camryn Sikora was 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored, while Jeritza Montero was 3-for-3 and added another three runs and three RBIs for Pompano Beach.

With the win, the Tornadoes improve their record to 13-6 and will advance to the final round of the district tournament where they’ll visit Coral Springs at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
