Brady: I’ll play Sunday vs. Jets
Patriots quarterback Tom
Brady returned to practice Wednesday and said after that he will play Sunday against the Jets in East Rutherford, N.J.
Brady sat out practice Tuesday, reportedly with an AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder.
“I’ll be there Sunday, don’t worry about that,” he said. “I’ll be there.”
Brady said the injury was just typical in-season wear and tear.
“I think everybody (plays through pain),” he said. “There’s a lot of bumps and bruises over the course of a year. I’m not concerned.”
Brady reportedly went for an MRI on his left shoulder earlier in the week and it showed no damage.
Brady, 40, leads the league with 1,702 passing yards and has thrown for 11 touchdowns with just one interception. But he’s been sacked 16 times, more than in the 12 games he played last season.
49ers stand firm: Safety Eric Reid said the 49ers won’t force their players to stand during the national anthem.
Reid, the first player to join Colin Kaepernick in protest last season, said he had a conversation recently with 49ers CEO Jed York, who indicated he will continue to support his players if they decide to kneel during the national anthem to protest social injustice.
“He’s expressed very clearly that he wants to support us, that he’s not going to force us to do anything,” Reid said. “Speaking for our team, that’s what he’s told me explicitly.”
More than 20 49ers kneeled during the anthem before the last two games, while teammates stood behind them with hands on their shoulders. Vice President Mike
Pence attended Sunday’s Colts-49ers game in Indianapolis and walked out after seeing those 49ers kneel, tweeting, “I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem.”
