Straily has been nei­ther sparkling nor strug­gling in his first three starts of the year, most re­cently in a 6-3 win over the Braves on May 11. In that game, Straily lasted a sea­son-high five in­nings, al­low­ing two earned runs on three hits while strik­ing out five and walk­ing three. He threw a sea­son-high 102 pitches. Dat­ing to last sea­son, Straily has given up at least one home run in 11 of his past 12 starts. … New­comb has been one of At­lanta’s best pitch­ers this sea­son, help­ing guide the Braves to the top of the Na­tional League East. His last out­ing was against the Marlins on Sun­day, when he ex­tended his score­less streak to 20 in­nings by toss­ing six in­nings of one-hit ball. New­comb has not al­lowed a run since April 26.
