APG to launch new magazine

EAS­TON — APG Me­dia of Ch­e­sa­peake is launch­ing Shore, a monthly life­style magazine for the Eastern Shore that em­bod­ies its tagline, “Easy-Liv­ing, Ca­sual El­e­gance.”

“Our team work­ing on this project all live on the Shore and many have done so their en­tire life,” APG Me­dia of Ch­e­sa­peake Pres­i­dent and Pub­lisher David Fike said. “We live and work here be­cause of the won­der­ful en­vi­ron­ment and way of life the Shore has to of­fer, and we wanted to cre­ate a magazine that cel­e­brated the unique and col­or­ful style of the Eastern Shore.”

Start­ing in Oc­to­ber, sub­scribers of The Star Demo­crat will get the magazine de­liv­ered to them as a bonus, but copies also will be avail­able for pur­chase at dozens of lo­ca­tions around the Eastern Shore. Sub­scrip­tions also will be avail­able.

Each month, Shore will have a spe­cific theme. The launch is­sue will fea­ture com­pelling sto­ries of peo­ple, places and life­style in­ter­ests of the Eastern Shore that em­body the magazine’s tagline, and also will in­cor­po­rate al­ter­na­tive ways to re­lax into the is­sue.

Each is­sue also will have standby fea­tures, in­clud­ing sto­ries and pho­tos of unique homes on the Shore; lo­cal fla­vors and food pair­ings from lo­cal chefs and restau­rants; lo­cal tal­ent in the mu­sic and arts scene; healthy liv­ing on the Shore; and day trips on and out­side the Shore.

“You will find a full sta­ble of ta­lented and com­mit­ted writ­ers, pho­tog­ra­phers and de­sign­ers work­ing to tell th­ese sto­ries each month,” Fike said. “While this magazine is tar­geted to the res­i­dents of the area, we see tourist and po­ten­tial new home­buy­ers to the mar­ket read­ing this is­sue to ex­pe­ri­ence the full fla­vor of the mar­ket.

“For lo­cal busi­ness, we en­vi­sion this a fan­tas­tic way to mar­ket your

prod­ucts or ser­vices. We see our au­di­ence grow­ing rapidly within the bound­aries of the Eastern Shore and in time, out­side, as vis­i­tors con­tinue read­ing to stay con­nected to the mar­ket.”

Fike said this magazine is not one APG Me­dia of Ch­e­sa­peake sim­ply is jump­ing into, but in­stead has been plan­ning care­fully as part of a team dur­ing the past five months.

That team in­cludes Fike, Ed­i­tor Katie Willis, Cre­ative Di­rec­tor Greg Mueller, Re­gional Ad­ver­tis­ing Man­ager Gail Ruppe and Client So­lu­tions Man­ager Jon Ekroos.

“So far, it has been a fun project to put to­gether, but we re­ally feel like the read­ers will feel the ex­act same way as soon as they see that first is­sue,” Fike said.
