APG to launch new magazine
EASTON — APG Media of Chesapeake is launching Shore, a monthly lifestyle magazine for the Eastern Shore that embodies its tagline, “Easy-Living, Casual Elegance.”
“Our team working on this project all live on the Shore and many have done so their entire life,” APG Media of Chesapeake President and Publisher David Fike said. “We live and work here because of the wonderful environment and way of life the Shore has to offer, and we wanted to create a magazine that celebrated the unique and colorful style of the Eastern Shore.”
Starting in October, subscribers of The Star Democrat will get the magazine delivered to them as a bonus, but copies also will be available for purchase at dozens of locations around the Eastern Shore. Subscriptions also will be available.
Each month, Shore will have a specific theme. The launch issue will feature compelling stories of people, places and lifestyle interests of the Eastern Shore that embody the magazine’s tagline, and also will incorporate alternative ways to relax into the issue.
Each issue also will have standby features, including stories and photos of unique homes on the Shore; local flavors and food pairings from local chefs and restaurants; local talent in the music and arts scene; healthy living on the Shore; and day trips on and outside the Shore.
“You will find a full stable of talented and committed writers, photographers and designers working to tell these stories each month,” Fike said. “While this magazine is targeted to the residents of the area, we see tourist and potential new homebuyers to the market reading this issue to experience the full flavor of the market.
“For local business, we envision this a fantastic way to market your
products or services. We see our audience growing rapidly within the boundaries of the Eastern Shore and in time, outside, as visitors continue reading to stay connected to the market.”
Fike said this magazine is not one APG Media of Chesapeake simply is jumping into, but instead has been planning carefully as part of a team during the past five months.
That team includes Fike, Editor Katie Willis, Creative Director Greg Mueller, Regional Advertising Manager Gail Ruppe and Client Solutions Manager Jon Ekroos.
“So far, it has been a fun project to put together, but we really feel like the readers will feel the exact same way as soon as they see that first issue,” Fike said.
