Man charged with point­ing ri­fle at peo­ple

EAS­TON — An East New Mar­ket man is be­ing held with­out bond at the Tal­bot County De­ten­tion Cen­ter af­ter al­legedly be­ing in­tox­i­cated and point­ing an as­sault ri­fle at sev­eral peo­ple in Eas­ton, po­lice said.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the man as Ken­neth H. Wal­ton Jr., 53, who was ar­rested on Thurs­day, Aug. 17.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, around 6:50 p.m. Thurs­day, of­fi­cers of the Eas­ton Po­lice De­part­ment were dis­patched to 28595 Mary’s Court in Eas­ton in ref­er­ence to a man with a gun.

Po­lice said Wal­ton was driv­ing his ve­hi­cle, and when peo­ple tried to stop him be­cause he was al­legedly in­tox­i­cated, he pulled out an AR-15 and pointed it at sev­eral peo­ple.

Of­fi­cers re­spond­ing to the scene de­tained Wal­ton and inside his ve­hi­cle found a Colt AR-15 as­sault ri­fle and three 30-round loaded magazines. Po­lice said Wal­ton also al­legedly smelled like al­co­hol.

Wal­ton is charged with first- and sec­ond-de­gree as­sault, reck­less en­dan­ger­ment, in­tox­i­cated en­dan­ger­ment, dan­ger­ous weapon­in­tent to in­jure and sev­eral driv­ing charges.
