Tax Aide vol­un­teers needed

— AARP is seek­ing vol­un­teers to help peo­ple with their taxes.

Tax Aide is an all-vol­un­teer group that is trained to of­fer free fed­eral, Mary­land and Delaware in­come tax prepa­ra­tion with ex­tra con­sid­er­a­tion for the el­derly and the low-in­come sec­tor of the pop­u­la­tion.

Last year, Tax Aide na­tion­ally pre­pared re­turns at no cost for more than 3.5 mil­lion peo­ple with low to mod­er­ate in­comes, se­niors and peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties. Where avail­able, as­sis­tance in Span­ish is of­fered.

“Not only is this pro­gram very ed­u­ca­tional, it pro­vides a great amount of sat­is­fac­tion in know­ing that you can make a dif­fer­ence and it is fun,” a press re­lease from the or­ga­ni­za­tion reads.

Tax Aide sites for the Mid-Shore district are in Caro­line, Kent, Queen Anne and Tal­bot coun­ties. The sites will run from Feb. 1 through April 15 in lo­cal li­braries, se­nior cen­ters, com­mu­nity cen­ters and lo­cal town of­fices around the area. The train­ing will be held at Ch­e­sa­peake col­lege in De­cem­ber and Jan­uary. Th­ese ses­sions are in­for­mal.
