Tax Aide volunteers needed
— AARP is seeking volunteers to help people with their taxes.
Tax Aide is an all-volunteer group that is trained to offer free federal, Maryland and Delaware income tax preparation with extra consideration for the elderly and the low-income sector of the population.
Last year, Tax Aide nationally prepared returns at no cost for more than 3.5 million people with low to moderate incomes, seniors and people with disabilities. Where available, assistance in Spanish is offered.
“Not only is this program very educational, it provides a great amount of satisfaction in knowing that you can make a difference and it is fun,” a press release from the organization reads.
Tax Aide sites for the Mid-Shore district are in Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne and Talbot counties. The sites will run from Feb. 1 through April 15 in local libraries, senior centers, community centers and local town offices around the area. The training will be held at Chesapeake college in December and January. These sessions are informal.
