Compass Regional Hospice to host Survivor Day at the Centreville Hope & Healing Center
CENTREVILLE — On Saturday, Nov. 18, Compass Regional Hospice will host Survivor Day at the Hope and Healing Center at 255 Comet Drive in Centreville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is the one day a year when people af fected by suicide loss gather in their local communities to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope. Sur vivors Day is sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
This year’s gathering will include a screening of The Journey: A Story of Healing and Hope, a compelling AFSP-produced documentary that traces the grief and healing journey that follows a suicide loss through loss survivors. Followed by presentations led by Compass Regional Hospice grief counselors Rhonda Knotts, MCC, and Wayne Larrimore, M.Ed, small group discussions and a candlelight remembrance ceremony. A light lunch will be provided.
Compass Regional Hospice invites people in the community affected by suicide loss to join. For many loss survivors, attending a Survivor Day event is an opportunity to discover that they are not alone in their experience of losing someone they know and love to suicide. There is no cost.
