Mother supports three kids after father’s death
Allison didn’t think it could get much worse when her husband passed away from cancer a few months ago, but that was before she hit rock bottom.
Before Richard passed from a battle with lung cancer, Allison was a stay-athome mom taking care of the house and raising their three children — Jeremy, Jenny and Grant.
Without a college education, Allison has found it difficult to find a full-time job that pays a livable wage for her and her children, now that she doesn’t have the monetary support from Richard.
Working full time now as a sales associate at a retail store, and part time as a server at a local restaurant, Allison’s schedules have sporadic work hours, and she doesn’t get much time to spend with her children, who still are grieving over the loss of their father.
Jenny, her only daughter, has taken the death of her father the worst and fallen into a deep depression. Unbeknownst to Allison, because she’s been so occupied with her two jobs, Jenny has developed an eating disorder to gain back a sense of control she lost when Richard died.
It wasn’t until Grant, Jenny’s brother, who found out something was wrong with his sister that Allison found out. Allison, heartbroken over her daughter’s pain, has scrounged up any extra money she was going to use for Christmas to send Jenny to treatment and now is left with little to nothing to pay the household bills.
Allison wants to be strong for her children and be independent enough to pay for everything herself, but she needs help. Your donation to The Star
