Couple with newborn battles mother’s health issues
Two teenagers, Rachel and John, fell in love, ran off and got married.
The couple had virtually nothing but were basking in that early newlywed glow. They felt they didn’t need very much.
The two got an apartment and a car, and quickly found themselves in over their heads when it came to making payments.
So they took on extra jobs to try to make enough to make ends meet. This required some complex logistics since they were sharing their only car.
Pretty soon, Rachel found out she was pregnant. The couple was excited, but Rachel started having problems.
She was told by doctors she should not be working extra jobs and needed to rest. That meant a cut in their income.
Now they have a newborn, but Rachel’s health issues have continued.
They have to travel to doctors and specialists, missing time from work and causing more loss of income.
Family members have helped out with babysitting and have loaned them money so they would not lose the car, but there is virtually no money for the holidays. Your donation to The
Star Democrat’s Brighter Christmas Fund could help ease the Rachel and John’s burdens during the holiday season. Tax-deductible donations, which also help other families in need on the Mid-Shore, may be sent to: The Brighter Christmas Fund, c/o The Star Democrat, P.O. Box 600, Easton, MD 21601.
