Lane closures planned for next week on Bay Bridge
SANDY POINT — The following lane closures for maintenance are planned on the Bay Bridge for the week of Dec. 31 through Jan. 6.
• The U.S. Route 50 east span will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning Tuesday and Wednesday. Two-way traffic will operate on the Route 50 west span during the closures.
• The west span may be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning Thursday, 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning Friday and 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following morning Saturday. Two-way traffic will operate on the east span during the closures.
• One lane of the west span may be closed from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
• One lane of the east span may be closed from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the west span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the west span. Drivers wishing to use an E-ZPass-only lane to access the east span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.
All maintenance work will be performed weather permitting. The Maryland Transportation Authority urges all motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Lane closures are subject to change, and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.
