Nel­son E. Gunn


EAS­TON — Nel­son Ed­ward Gunn, 84, died on Thurs­day, Oct. 4, 2018, at Tal­bot Hos­pice in Eas­ton.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1934, in Bal­ti­more, Md., the son of the late Lawrence and Grace Hartzell Gunn.

He at­tended Pat­ter­son High School in Bal­ti­more and served hon­or­ably in the Na­tional Guard from 1953 thru 1961.

He mar­ried the former Ruth Keller on July 22, 1962, in Ephrata, Pa. They lived in Bal­ti­more, Md., be­fore mov­ing to Cor­dova in July 2018.

Nel­son was em­ployed as a ma­chin­ist for Crown, Cork & Seal in Bal­ti­more, Md., for 23 years. In ad­di­tion, he worked at San­toni’s Mar­ket as a deli man­ager and for MedS­tar phar­macy. He was an ac­tive mem­ber of the Dun­dalk Church of the Brethren from 1962-2016, where he served as an usher and sang in the choir. For the last two years, he at­tended New Light Lutheran

Church in Dun­dalk. He was also a mem­ber of the Fra­ter­nal Or­der of Po­lice and the Cho­rus of the Ch­e­sa­peake. Nel­son was de­voted to serv­ing oth­ers and was a vol­un­teer for Meals on Wheels. He was a life­long fan of Bal­ti­more sports, in­clud­ing the Bal­ti­more Ori­oles, Bal­ti­more Colts and Bal­ti­more Ravens. Nel­son loved play­ing soft­ball and his life­long friends with whom he played cards for over 50 years.

He is sur­vived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth K. Gunn; chil­dren, Christl DeNiro and her hus­band Kimo of Board­man, Ohio, and Eric Gunn and his wife Jody of Cor­dova, Md.; a sis­ter, Sharyn Kahl and her hus­band Steven of Mid­dle­boro, Md.; and four grand­chil­dren, Ben­jamin Gunn, Rocco DeNiro, Carlo DeNiro and Amelia Gunn; as well as many nieces and neph­ews.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, he was pre­ceded in death by broth­ers, Lawrence Gunn Jr. and Charles Gunn.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held at a fu­ture date at New Light Lutheran Church,

2120 Dun­dalk Ave., Bal­ti­more, Md.
