CENTREVILLE — A gather­ing hon­or­ing the life of Michael Bret Greiner will be held on Tues­day, Oct. 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, 200 S. Har­ri­son St., Eas­ton, MD 21601.

Bret’s death came un­ex­pect­edly on Satur­day, Oct. 20, 2018, at the Pines in Eas­ton, where he was to be­gin phys­i­cal ther­apy treat­ment af­ter be­ing hos­pi­tal­ized at UM Shore Med­i­cal Cen­ter at Eas­ton for sev­eral weeks.

Bret was born at the Wash­ing­ton Ad­ven­tist Hospi­tal in Takoma Park, Md., on Dec. 23, 1959, he was 58.

In his boy­hood, Bret loved be­ing on the farm with his Pop Pop Mered­ith at Po­plar Grove Farm near Centreville.

He at­tended Eas­ton High School.

Bret was a noted ma­rine me­chanic for over 35 years, most re­cently em­ployed with Wye Ma­rine near Wye Mills.

He was also an avid water­man, fish­er­man and hunter. His love was his dog, Casey, and be­ing on the wa­ter.

He is sur­vived by his mother, Phyl­lis Mered­ith Hotchkiss and hus­band Bruce of Eas­ton; sis­ter, Karen G. Leonard and hus­band Bobby of Tu­nis Mills; niece, Lind­say Long of Tu­nis Mills; and nephew, Mitch Hughes of Trappe.

He was pre­ceded in death by his grand­par­ents, Fred and Cather­ine Mered­ith of Centreville, Wil­liam and He­len Greiner of Queen Anne; and fa­ther, W. Allen Greiner.

The fam­ily sug­gests memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions be made to an as­so­ci­a­tion or char­ity of their choice.
