AUTOCON BRINGS OUT THE BEST IN THE BIG APPLE
There’s been plenty of car shows in the New York/new Jersey area before, but nothing has been done in the heart of Manhattan. By some divine magic this past July, Autocon organizers secured Pier 94 located along the Hudson River for its second annual N.Y. show. It’s a venue typically headlined by the likes of Major Lazer and Armin van Buuren; however, a car show? Unheard of! Sure, enough, though, Autocon came through in a big way as nearly 300 of the East Coast’s finest modified cars filled the former ship terminal.
Because this was a whole new venue, it was a whole different experience. Car owners who haven’t necessarily brought out their rides for events in the area decided to test the waters and be a part of this first for the scene. Spectators were also plentiful—10,000+ strong. Many took advantage of the fact that there’s free parking on the streets on Sunday, but there were thousands who took the train in from wherever they’re from to avoid the chaos of New York traffic.
It was a celebration that won’t be forgotten for years to come, and it’s our hope Autocon will be back at Pier 94 to do it all over again. Fingers crossed. CONNECT: autoconevents.com
