As a former chair of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, I was very pleased to see that the chamber voted to support a new stadium for the Tampa Bay Rays in Ybor City.
As a retired tax partner of the Tampa Bay office of a national accounting firm, I know firsthand the business opportunities that open up from a new ballpark — tourism, development, housing and new quality jobs.
All these spin-offs expand Tampa Bay’s local tax base for better schools funding and infrastructure investments. I’m all for a new ballpark and applaud the Greater Tampa Chamber for, once again, providing leadership on such an impactful endeavor.
