Black His­tory Pa­rade set for Satur­day in down­town Texarkana

The Twin Black His­tory As­so­ci­a­tion will hold its 26th an­nual Black His­tory Month Pa­rade at noon Satur­day in down­town Texarkana.

The theme for this year’s pa­rade is “Unity in the Com­mu­nity Mat­ters.” The pro­ces­sion will in­clude lo­cal clubs, civic groups, school dis­tricts, churches, busi­nesses and in­di­vid­u­als. The pa­rade it­self will in­clude floats, march­ing bands, an­tique cars, mo­tor­cy­cles, all ter­rain ve­hi­cles, horses and in­di­vid­ual walk­ers.

This year, for­mer Texarkana, Texas, hu­man re­sources di­rec­tor LeShon D. Ross will serve as the pa­rade’s Grand Mar­shal. Ross served with the Texas side from 1988 to 2001, and has since ad­vanced her ca­reer to be­com­ing the deputy city man­ager for Plano, Texas.
