Arkansas awards $3M bid to improve freeway off-ramps
The Arkansas Highway Commission recently approved a bid for safety improvement aimed at reducing wrong-way crashes for freeways and interstate highways in the state.
The commission approved a bid for improvements to 351 freeway off-ramps throughout the state, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.
“The purpose of this project is to install off-ramp improvements such as sign replacements, lowered signs and ramp delineations, said Krista Sides, a spokeswoman for the highway department.
The ramps in southwest Arkansas will follow Interstate 30 and Interstate 49.
Ewing Signal Construction, LLC of Nixa, Mo., was awarded the contract at $3,098,847.80.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in late 2017.
