MAXINE JONES

Helen Maxine Jones, 89, of Texarkana, Ark., died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at a local nursing home.

Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Texarkana, Texas. She was the retired co-owner of Vic’s Fish Market and Sutton Package Store. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Victor Brown Sr., James Westmorela­nd and Huey Jones; one son, Victor Brown Jr.; and a granddaugh­ter, Brandi Jones.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Gale Ballard of Texarkana, Ark., and Helen and Skip Jacobs of Texarkana, Texas; one daughterin-law, Shirley Brown of Bella Vista, Ark.; two sisters, Dorothy Daggert of Texarkana, Ark., and Barbara Miles of Kilgore, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Judy Farrar of Paso Robles, Calif.; seven grandchild­ren; 11 great-grandchild­ren; two great-great-grandchild­ren; and a number of other relatives. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Hervey officiatin­g. Burial will be under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 800 Marshall St., Little Rock, AR 72202.

CLIFTON HALL

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas— Clifton Harold Hall, 62, of Hughes Springs died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017. Mr. Hall was born May 25, 1954.

Survivors include one daughter, Farrah Clayton; his mother, Frances Hall; one brother, Douglas Hall; a granddaugh­ter, Gabrielle Clayton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Dennis Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

WAYNE MAHONE

Lonnie Wayne Mahone, 78, of Texarkana, TX, died Sunday, February 26, 2017, at his home. He was born October 17, 1938, in Maud, TX. He was a retired educator from the DeKalb Independen­t School District and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Nash, where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Mahone; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Becky Mahone of Texarkana, TX, and Sandy and Danna Mahone of New Boston, TX; two granddaugh­ters, Hailey and Kaitlyn Mahone; one grandson, Tyler Mahone; a brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Pat Mahone of Durham, NC; two brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Barbara Wright of Paducah, KY, and James Counce of Dyersburg, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rex Roberts officiatin­g. Entombment will follow in the Chapelwood Bell Tower Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 P.M. Monday, February 27, 2017, at Chapelwood Funeral Home.

GINGER PENNINGTON

Ginger Echols Pennington, 79, of Texarkana, Ark., died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at a local hospice.

Mrs. Pennington was born July 24, 1937, in Richmond, Ark. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Pennington.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Darryl Jones and Donna and Keith Walker of Texarkana, Ark., and Dara and Michael Cornett of Doddridge, Ark.; one brother, Dr. O.L. Echols of Port Neches, Texas; two sisters, Mary Catherine von Glahn of Sarasota, Fla., and Judith White of Texarkana, Texas; and eight grandchild­ren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel, Arkansas, with the Revs. Bill Saxby and Charlie Elrod officiatin­g. Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Wheeler Cemetery, near Fordyce, Ark.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral hoem.

The family will be at the home of Debbie and Darryl Jones.

RUBY WILLIAMS

Ruby Jean Williams, 82, of Queen City, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Miller County, Ark. She was a retired nurse’s aide and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Williams Jr., and a daughter, Corlise Anderson.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Glen and Bobby Williams of Eureka, Calif., Donald and Becky Williams of Queen City and Douglas Williams of Texarkana, Ark.; one daughter, Barbara Wilson of Fouke, Ark.; 11 grandchild­ren; and 14 great-grandchild­ren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

MARIE THORNTON

Gladys Marie Ross Thornton, age 88, of Hooks, Texas, died Sunday, February 26, 2017, in a local hospital. Mrs. Thornton was born March 22, 1928, in Howard County, Arkansas. She was a retired cosmetolog­ist and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hooks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Thornton Jr., and by a grandson, John Allan Reed.

She is survived by two daughters and one sonin-law, Kate Nicholson of Texarkana, Texas, and Becky and Harold Hanna of Hooks, Texas; three grandchild­ren, Brian Nicholson and fiancée Misti McLelland, J.J. Singleton and wife Shannon and Tiffany Hanna and fiancée Kevin Gyles; eight great-grandchild­ren, Brailey Dudley, Brayden Nicholson, Blaize Nicholson, Briar Reed, Dory Bonner, Madilyn Singleton, Logan Bonner and Dylan Silvey; five great-great-grandchild­ren, Tripp Fowler, Rhyder Fowler, Trapper Nicholson, Traxton Nicholson and Bryson Gyles; one special niece, Joan Jeffus; two special friends, Betty Harkin and Bobbie White; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Grant Sutton and the Rev. Kevin Schutte officiatin­g. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Gretchen Uno, 78, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Uno was born June 27, 1938, in Cincinnati. She was a retired health care worker.

Survivors include one daughter and son-inlaw, Melissa and Steven Eischen; one sister, Mim Cook; one brother, Ken Huber; one grandson, Cooper Eischen; and special friends, Joe Hackett, Ted Landrum and Susannah Christian.

Private services will be held later under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

TOM DANIELS

Boykin T. “Tom” Daniels, 76 went to be with our Lord Friday, February 24, 2017 after fighting health issues for several years.

Tom was born in Mobile,

Alabama

June 24,

1940.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Nesbitt Daniels and father, Dewey Daniels, two brothers Eugene and Bankston Daniels, two sisters, Betty Daniels Lewis and Mary Daniels Bradley.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Genivee Lott Daniels, one daughter, Leigh Daniels Barnett of Mobile, Alabama, one granddaugh­ter, Bentleigh Barnett of Houston, Texas, one brother, Frank Daniels of Campbell, Alabama and many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Tom was a native of Mobile, Alabama and served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He earned a B.A. from the University of Southern Mississipp­i and his M.B.A. from the University of South Alabama. He worked for Internatio­nal Paper for 35 years and served in several different capacities at mills in and throughout the South and at IP’s corporate offices in New York City and Memphis, TN. Tom retired in 2004 and moved to Texarkana from Germantown, TN. He was an active member of Williams Memorial United Methodist Church. As a member of the Board of Directors for Hospice of Texarkana, Tom served as President (20092010) and helped implement and plan the new Hospice Inpatient Center. He was an active member of the Wilbur Smith Rotary Club and many other organizati­ons throughout his life that are too numerous to list.

Visitation will be in the Parlor at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church on Moores Lane on Tuesday, February 28 at 10:00 A.M., followed by his Memorial Service in the Sanctuary at 11:00 A.M. officiated by Dr. Brad Morgan. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
