ARANTHIA ROY
Aranthia Mae Roy, 81, of Wake Village, Texas, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Roy was born April 29, 1936, in Fouke, Ark. She was a member of North Heights Pentecostal Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Roy; and one son, Randall Roy.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ronnie Mears of Wake Village; one daughter-in-law, Charline Roy of Redwater, Texas; one brother, James Striplin of Ashdown, Ark.; two grandsons, Dale Neeley of Redwater and Jason Mears of Whitehouse, Texas; two granddaughters, Kelly Roy of Redwater and Lanette Holt of Wake Village; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at East Funeral Home, Downtown, with the Rev. Robert Jansen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

GENE BURNS
Gene Paul Burns, 80, of Nash, Texas, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, in a local hospice. Mr. Burns was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Baytown, Texas. He was an offshore construction consu ltant and a charter member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, Baytown.
Surv ivors include his wife, Elizabeth Lea, of Nash; two daughters Melissa Castillo and Paula Hosel of Baytown; three stepchildren, Pam McWilliams of Wilton, Ark., and Theresa Wallace and John Lea of Texarkana, Ark.; one sister, Suzanne Burns Hooper of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; one brotherin-law and sister-in-law, Lewis and Deanna Gildon of Nash; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. today at Chapelwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Orville Farren officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Baytown.
Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.

Martha Ann Book, 88, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, in a local hospital. Mrs. Book was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Texarkana. She was retired from Pleasant Grove ISD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Book.
Surv ivors include two sons and one daughter-inlaw; Russell “Rusty” Book of Texarkana and Donald “Chuck” and Julie Book of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Layne Book of Avery, Texas, Lindsey Book of New Boston, Texas, Corrine Book Patterson of Dallas, Texas, and Lorne Book of Plano, Texas; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Fischer officiating. Burial will be under direction of East Funeral Home, Moores Lane.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CLARKSVILLE, Texas—Deborah Lee Butts, 59, of Merit, Texas, died Friday, June 16, 2017, in a McKinney, Texas nursing home.
Mrs. Butts was born March 2, 1958, in Dallas, Texas. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Allen Goodson.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Bradley Butts of Merit; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Monica Goodson of Plano, Texas; one daughter, Alicia Goodson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Darlene and Patrick Daley of Corsicana, Texas, and Connie Webb; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at English Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Langdon officiating. Burial will be under direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

NAPLES, Texas— Saundra Hodges Runyon, 66, of Omaha, Texas, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at her home.
Mrs. Runyon was born Nov. 26, 1950 in Kemp, Okla. She was retired from Paul Pewitt High School and a member of Morris County Retired Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star and Concord Missionary Baptist Church, Omaha. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Runyon.
Survivors include include one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Melissa Runyon of New Boston, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Eddie Coleman of New Boston; her mother, O’Della Hodges of Omaha; one brother and sisterinRicky and Caren Hodges of Marietta, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Bruce Jackson of Omaha; seven grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Concord Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Nolan Richey officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery under direction of Harrison Funeral Home.

Ryan Shane Johnson, 21, of Fouke, Ark., died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in Miller County, Ark. Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 18, 1995, in Texarkana, Texas. He was a drummer and member of United Pentecostal Church, Fouke.
Surv ivors include his mother, Sherry Barnes of Fouke; his father, Wallace Johnson of Fouke; one brother and sister-in-law, Zachary and Chasady Belk of Atlanta, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Rocksand and Casey Hewitt of Atlanta; his grandfather, Jack Blaylock of Fouke; and a number of other relatives.

CLARKSVILLE, Texas—John Michael “Johnny” Holley, 72, of Clarksville died Saturday, June 17, 2017, in a Paris, Texas hospital.
Mr. Holley was born June 7, 1945, in Clarksville. He was a science teacher at Clarksville High School, a former Volunteer Firefighter for the City of Clarksville and a Catholic. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Morgan Meredith.
