SUL­PHUR SPRINGS, Texas— Pleas­ant Grove’s var­sity ten­nis team de­feated Sul­phur Springs, 12-8.

Win­ners for the Hawks in boys’ sin­gles in­cluded Wes Humphrey, Palmer Duke and Lance Tay­lor.

Shan­non Lee, Caro­line Joyce, Gra­cia Hig­gins, Jisu Choi, Al­lie Ryan, and Tif­fany Hoang were win­ners for the Lady Hawks in sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion.

Boys’ dou­bles win­ners for the Hawks were Adam Bone/Ross Wyles.

Joyce/Hig­gins and Lee/Choi won their girls’ dou­bles match for Pleas­ant Grove.

Hawks de­feat MP

MOUNT PLEAS­ANT, Texas—Af­ter their vic­tory over Sul­phur Springs, Pleas­ant Grove’s var­sity ten­nis trav­eled to Mount Pleas­ant and de­feated the Tigers, 15-8.

Win­ners for the Hawks in boys’ sin­gles in­cluded Clark Giles, Ge­orge Dou­glas, Palmer Duke and Lance Tay­lor.

Shan­non Lee, Caro­line Joyce, Gra­cia Hig­gins, Jisu Choi, Al­lie Ryan, Tif­fany Hoang, and Amy Lam were win­ners for the Lady Hawks in sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion.

Boys’ dou­bles win­ners for the Hawks were Giles/Palmer.

Joyce/Hig­gins, Lee/Choi, and Ryan/ Houng each won their girls’ dou­bles match for Pleas­ant Grove.

Texas High wins again

TYLER, Texas—Texas High’s var­sity ten­nis team played En­nis and Lin­dale and won, 10-7 and 10-1, re­spec­tively.

Quinn San­ders, Alec Rom­mel, and Je­bin Justin each won at least one match in boys’ sin­gles for the Tigers.

Janie Rounds, Tirzah Bai­ley, Rea­gan Potts, and Mallari McClaran each won at least one match for the Lady Tigers.

The Tigers’ San­ders/Walker Trippe, Griffin John­son/Rom­mel and Justin/ Rhett Young each won their boys’ dou­bles match against Lin­dale. San­ders/Trippe also won against En­nis.

Bai­ley/Rounds, Cayli Clack/Potts, and McClaran/White­horn each won their girls’ dou­bles match for Texas High against Lin­dale. Bai­ley/Rounds and Potts/Clack also won against En­nis.

Con­nor El­liot and McClaran won their mixed dou­bles match for the Tigers against En­nis.

The Tigers (7-0) host Sul­phur Springs on Tues­day.

Hogs fin­ish fourth

JONESBORO, Ark.—Ethan Ep­pinette shot a 1-un­der 70 to help lead Arkansas High to fourth place at the Jonesboro Coun­try Club.

Ep­pinette fin­ished run­ner-up medal­ist for the Hogs.

“Our boys played well, and I was proud of all of them,” Arkansas High head coach Char­lie Bate­man said.

Ma­son May carded an 82, Dy­lan Ad­cock scored an 83, Reece Jones shot an 84, and Cody Ad­cock had a 1-6 for the Hogs.

Arkansas High takes on El Do­rado at Mys­tic Creek on Thurs­day.

Volleyball

PG 8th wins tour­ney

Lucy Wood­man slapped in eight ser­vice points as Pleas­ant Grove’s 8th grade team were crowned the cham­pi­ons with a 25-14, 25-22 win over Red­wa­ter in the fi­nals at the Texas Mid­dle School volleyball tour­na­ment.

Wood­man and Lexi Sny­der each had seven ser­vice points for the Lady Hawks in a 25-10, 25-20 win over Red Lick in the semi­fi­nals.

Hal­lie Lipham paced Pleas­ant Grove with 11 ser­vice win­ners in a 25-13, 25-8 win over At­lanta.

Ann Elise Lind­say and Izzy Daniels each served in eight points to lead Red Lick’s 8th grade over Texas Mid­dle School, 21-25, 25-22, 15-11. The Lady Mus­tangs took home third place.

Daniels served in 16 win­ners to pace Red Lick over Avery, 25-15, 25-12.

Caro­line Knowles had 16 ser­vice points, but the Mus­tangs’ 7th A team fell to Hooks, 19-25, 25-16, 16-14.

Molly Black served in 10 points, but Red Lick’s 7th lost to TMS, 25-13, 23-25, 15-10.

New Bos­ton, Avery win JV tour­na­ment

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas—New Bos­ton de­feated Red­wa­ter, 25-16, 14-25, 28-26, to win the ju­nior var­sity blue Paul Pe­witt volleyball tour­na­ment.

Avery rolled past Dainger­field, 25-12, 25-10, to win the ju­nior var­sity gray tour­na­ment.

At­lanta was third place in the gray tour­na­ment, while Paul Pe­witt earned third in the blue tour­na­ment.
