James “Jim” Robert Braswell, 88 years old, was born in Texarkana, Arkansas De­cem­ber 12, 1928 to Rich and Gla­dys Braswell.

Jim passed away peace­fully Septem­ber 14, 2017 in Dal­las, Texas. He leaves a legacy to cher­ish his mem­o­ries in­clud­ing his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary John Lawrence Braswell; sons, David Robert Braswell and Lawrence Rich Braswell; daugh­ters, Mary Hoback and Naomi Webb & hus­band, Wil­liam; 10 grand­chil­dren; 6 great-grand­chil­dren; as well as a host of ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers and friends. Jim, a great fa­ther fig­ure, ded­i­cated much of his life to bring­ing many to know the love of Christ as a Church of Christ min­is­ter. He pro­vided a won­der­ful life for his fam­ily, striv­ing to be the best he could be for them. Jim drove for Con­ti­nen­tal Trail­ways & Grey­hound Buslines un­til re­tire­ment, the com­pany hon­ored Jim by grac­ing the side of a bus with his name. He proudly ac­cepted the Mil­lion Mile Safety Award, af­ter never hav­ing any ac­ci­dents over a mil­lion miles. Jim was an ac­com­plished horse­man and af­ter con­tin­ued to work af­ter re­tir­ing to keep busy.

Fam­ily will re­ceive friends for a visi­ta­tion one hour prior to funeral ser­vice. Funeral Ser­vice will be­gin 10:30 A.M. at Chris­tian Care Cen­ter Au­di­to­rium in Mesquite, Texas, 900 Wig­gins Pkwy, Mesquite, TX 75150, Septem­ber 20, 2017.
