PG tennis team sweeps L-E
Pleasant Grove’s varsity tennis team swept Liberty-Eylau in the second round of District 14-4A play, 10-0, at Texarkana College tennis courts.
The Hawks play Atlanta today back at Texarkana College at 10 a.m. in the final round of district competition.
Football Leopards roll past Wildcats
PARIS, Texas—Korbyn White had two touchdowns to lead Liberty-Eylau’s junior varsity to a 40-7 win over Paris.
Damien Henderson, Talvyion Cooper, and Shayne Porshe each had one touchdown for the Leopards.
Tyler Parks had an interception and was a standout on defense for L-E.
The Wildcats won the 9th grade game, 20-12. Semondre Lewis and Ahmajay Carter each had 1-yard TD runs for the Leopards. Standouts included the offensive line and Takylan Hampton and Josh Gamble on defense.
THS frosh win
Texas High won the 9th grade game over visiting Sulphur Springs, 36-18.
Dequarreon Collier scored three times for the Tigers, including a 91-yard interception return. Collier also had a 4-yard run and a 2-yard dive for a TD.
Quarterback Rian Cellers tossed two scores, hitting Montre Arnold for a 71-yard strike and Clayton Smith for 48 yards. Cellers also connected with Smith on a 2-point conversion, and Vontrey Anderson and Arnold also had 2-pointers.
Tigers defeat Hornets
MOUNT VERNON, Texas— Mount Vernon’s junior varsity defeated Hooks at home, 14-7.
TJ Rigsby put the Hornets on the board with his 32-yard touchdown run.
Miguel Hererra booted the extra point for Hooks., while teammate Rhett Ashmore returned a fumble 12-yards for the Hornet defense.
Hooks, Ore City split
ORE CITY, Texas—Ore City’s 8th grade squad blanked Hooks, 24-0.
The Hornets 7th grade team defeated Ore City, 31-8.
Logan Davis scored twice for Hooks on runs of 15 and 71 yards.
Matthew Hays scored on a 10-yard run, 2-point conversion and also kicked an extra point for the Hornets.
David Garcia scored two 2-point conversions and Kameron Choate scored on a 5-yard run for Hooks.
The Hornets are 3-1 overall and 3-0 in district play. Watkins’ score lifts Hogs
Mar’quavious Watkins had a 35-yard touchdown run as North Heights’ 8th defeated De Queen, 6-3, at Razorback Stadium.
Logan Williams had an interception for the Hogs, while teammates Chris Kennedy and Billy Davis each had one fumble recovery.
North Heights’ 8th grade plays at Pine Bluff Thursday at 5:30 p.m., while the Hogs’ 7th grade squad hosts De Queen Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Lions’ JV fall to Bulldogs
NEW BOSTON, Texas— Tyrone Hunter scored a 5-yard touchdown run and added the 2-point conversion, but the Lions’ junior varsity fell to Jefferson, 20-8.
Josh Packard had an interception for New Boston.
Caiden Jackson had a 1-yard touchdown run for New Boston, but it fell to Jefferson, 28-8, in the 8th grade game.
Clay Fant added a 2-point conversion run for the Lions.
Jefferson won the 7th grade game, 16-0.
Tigers’ 8th prevails
SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas— Taeshaun Richardson caught two touchdown passes from Brayson McHenry and ran in a 2-point conversion to power Texas Middle School’s 8th grade A team over Sulphur Springs, 22-6.
Richardson had catches of 60 and five yards, while teammate Javarous Tyson had a 90-yard interception return. Jalen Woodside had a 2-point conversion run for the Tigers.
TMS’s Patric Harris had an interception, and the coaches praised the special teams.
Marcell Beaver had touchdown runs of 65 and 15 yards as Texas Middle School’s 8th grade B team defeated Sulphur Springs, 14-6.
Keyshawn Hill threw a 2-point conversion pass to Michael Thomas for the Tigers.
TMS hosts Mount Pleasant Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Both 8th grade squads are undefeated in district play at 2-0.
Daingerfield tops DeKalb
DEKLAB, Texas— Daingerfield’s junior varsity squad defeated DeKalb on the road, 32-0.
DeKalb’s 8th grade team fell to Daingerfield, 24-0.
The 7th grade Bears defeated Daingerfield, 34-30.
Amar Love scored two touchdowns for DeKalb on runs of 52 and 6 yards. Love also scored two 2-point conversions.
Wyatt Huggins scored two touchdowns for the Bears on runs of 6 yards.
Kaleb Dooley finished the scoring for DeKalb with his 5-yard run.
Redwater trumps Sabine
REDWATER, Texas—Preston Davis three touchdown performance propelled Redwater past Sabine in the junior varsity contest, 43-20.
Davis scored on runs of 2, 9 and 45 yards. Davis also completed a 2-point conversion.
Logan Johnson scored two rushing touchdowns for the Dragons.
Johnson also caught a 25-yard pass from Davis.
Ned Kapaski scored a two point conversion and also kicked a extra point for Redwater.
Redwater’s 8th grade squad fell to Sabine in a thriller, 46-44.
Jonathan Ketchum led the Dragons with four touchdowns and two 2-point conversions. Ketchum scored on runs of 30, 40, 50 and 65 yards.
Malcolm Brown scored on runs of 1 and 18 yards for Redwater and also scored two 2-point conversions. Brown recovered a fumble on the 50-yard line at the end of the game that gave the Dragons offense a chance in the final minutes. The Dragons are 4-1. Redwater hosts New Boston on Thursday. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
Queen City sweeps
QUEEN CITY, Texas— Demarques Gamble and Vonte Frank each scored twice to help Queen City’s junior varsity beat New Diana, 44-30, at SmithWall Stadium.
Gamble had a 22-yard TD run and hauled in a 75-yard strike from Tallen Boone. Frank added a 17-yard jaunt and a 26-yard interception return to paydirt, Damir Rascoe returned a kickoff 65 for a TD, and Josh Davis added a 3-yard plunge. Drake Moore twice, Frank and Boone each had a 2-point run.
Austin Perry’s two rushing touchdowns whisked Queen City’s 8th grade squad past New Diana, 38-0, to remain unbeaten at 4-0.
D’Clayvion Jiles added two rushing touchdowns and two 2-point conversions for the Bulldogs in the rout. Imahd Hicks added a touchdown and two 2-point conversions for Queen City.
The 7th grade Bulldogs defeated New Diana, 16-0, to improve to 2-2
Jeremiah Drayton and Logan Oas each scored rushing touchdowns for Queen City. Howard Green completed two 2-point conversions for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs travel to Ore City on Thursday.
