Ash­down school dis­trict names Teach­ers of Year

Ash­down School Dis­trict re­cently named Teach­ers of the Year for 2017-18.

Mandi Molock, who was named Ash­down El­e­men­tary School’s Teacher of the Year, is the school’s phys­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion teacher. Now in her 25th year of teach­ing, the Ash­down na­tive and grad­u­ate has also taught at C.D. Franks, Mar­garet Daniel and L.F. Hen­der­son.

Marli Thoma­son, the fifth­grade read­ing teacher at L.F. Hen­der­son In­ter­me­di­ate, is in her fifth year of teach­ing. She is a na­tive of Ash­down and grad­u­ate of Ash­down High.

Ash­down Ju­nior High School’s Teacher of the Year is Nancy Coker. She is in her 23rd year of teach­ing for dis­trict and is orig­i­nally from Tulsa, Okla. She be­gan her ca­reer as a spe­cial ed­u­ca­tion teacher, but has been in coun­sel­ing for 15 years. She is cur­rently in her sixth year at coun­selor for AJHS.

Dixie Ard­win was se­lected as Teacher of the Year at Ash­down High School. Now in her 1oth year of teach­ing, this is her third year with the dis­trict. Orig­i­nally from San An­to­nio, she has lived in Ash­down for the past 30 years. She teaches pre-AP world his­tory, world his­tory and ge­og­ra­phy.
