Budget committee OKs $22K toward a tank for fire department
The Miller County Quorum Court budget committee Thursday approved the transfer of $22,000 to help Trinity Fire Department to buy a tank to build a tanker truck.
Trinity has $50,000 in department funds and the committee granted permission to transfer the money to allow the firefighters to build a tank truck.
The committee approved the transfer and will present the proposal to the full Quorum Court on Monday.
The budget committee also approved the transfer of $36,000 to the sheriff’s department for overtime and regular payroll funds.
The funds were needed to pay additional overtime for deputies. An example was the overtime accumulated when officers had to work traffic control on Interstate 30, because the highway was closed for about seven hours after a wreck, said Miller County Chief Deputy Michael McQuerrey.
“There was no way we could have predicted the interstate would have been closed for seven hours,” he said.
