Banquet will honor five African-American women

The 23rd Annual Tribute to African American Women Awards Banquet will take place 7 p.m. Saturday at the Truman Arnold Student Center on the Texarkana College campus.

The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Beta Tau Sigma Chapter and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Gamma Kappa Zeta Chapter will present the event.

To pay homage to the five founders of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., five women will be honored this year. The honorees are:

Lakesha Taylor—Zedia Lane Education Award

Lisa K. Williams—Helen McNeal Service Award

Lisa Godfrey—Shae Watson Humanitarian Award

Mary Scoggins-Robinson— Edna Shepherd Leadership Award

Sandra Warren—Idell Watson Good Shepherd Award

The master of ceremonies will be Brannon Sledge, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., and the entertainment for this event will be Stand & Zeke.
