Have any used bikes? Pennswood look­ing for your do­na­tions

If you have bi­cy­cles at home gath­er­ing dust in the garage or in the base­ment, here’s a chance to make some­one’s life a lit­tle bet­ter through your do­na­tion. The Pennswood sil­lage oes­i­dents As­so­ci­a­tion hold­ing its 6th an­nual bike do­na­tion drive for Bikes for the World on Satur­day, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.

Bikes for the World will ship the do­nated bi­cy­cles to de­vel­op­ing coun­tries, where they will be re­con­di­tioned and dis­trib­uted at mod­est cost to low in­come peo­ple in need of re­li­able trans­porta­tion.

Tax-de­ductible re­ceipts will be avail­able for the value of the bi­cy­cles as well as cash do­na­tions. A do­na­tion to­ward ship­ping costs is re­quested (sug­gested min­i­mum: $10 per bike).

Bikes may be old; tires may be flat. That’s no prob­lem. But they must be in re­pairable con­di­tion and have no more than a lit­tle rust.

Chil­dren’s as well as adult bikes, but no tri­cy­cles will be ac­cepted. Bikes for the World also ac­cepts do­na­tions of work­ing elec­tric por­ta­ble sewing ma­chines.
