Rita M. Ed­wards, lived at Good­noe Farm in New­town

Rita M. Ed­wards, 91 of New­town, died peace­fully on Oct. 17 at her home.

Born in New­town where she grew up, she moved to Vir­ginia with her hus­band Martin and their four chil­dren, Don­ald, Wayne, Janie and Carol.

While in Vir­ginia, Patsy, Laura Jean and Su­san hay were born. They re­turned to New­town as a fam­ily, liv­ing on the Good­noe Farm.

Rita was a lov­ing and de­voted wife, mother, grand­mother, great-grand­mother, and great-great-grand­mother who de­voted her life to her fam­ily. She will be greatly missed and lov­ingly re­mem­bered by her many friends and all who knew her.

Rita is the daugh­ter of the late Thomas and Caro­line Hoben­sack Real and the wife of the late Martin Ed­wards and the Nana of Jar­rod Ed­wards.

She is sur­vived by her seven chil­dren, Don­ald, Wayne and his wife harla, Janie and her hus­band Wil­bert DeWitt, Carol and her hus­band Den­nis Yates, Patsy and her hus­band hirk Jones, Laura Jean and her hus­band Bill Tan­ner and Su­san and her hus­band Tommy Iden.

She is the de­voted Nana to 16 grand­chil­dren, 32 great-grand­chil­dren and four great-great-grand­chil­dren.

She is the sis­ter of the late Wil­liam “Bill” Real, El­iz­a­beth “Lib” Et­tenger, hathryn “hate” Scott and Emma Stumpf. She is also sur­vived by many nieces and neph­ews.

Rita’s Life Cel­e­bra­tion was held on Mon­day, Oct. 21 fol­lowed by her funeral on Tues­day, Oct. 22 at the Swartz/Givnish Funeral Home, 323 E. Wash­ing­ton Ave., New­town. In­ter­ment fol­lowed in the New­town Ceme­tery.
