Sum­merseat to cel­e­brate the sea­son Colo­nial-style

MORRISsILLE - The His­toric Mor­risville So­ci­ety wel­comes ev­ery­one to Sum­merseat and its win­ter fes­tiv­i­ties on Dec. 5 and 8.

The an­nual Carol Sing will kick-off the hol­i­day cel­e­bra­tion on Wed­nes­day, Dec. 5 at S p.m. Punch and light re­fresh­ments will be served at the free event lo­cated at 140 Le­gion Av­enue, Mor­risville.

Then on Satur­day, Dec. 8 at 10W30 a.m., Gen­eral Ge­orge Washington and his troops (His­toric Mil­i­tary Im­pres­sion­istsF will ar­rive at Sum­merseat to re-en­act the Gen­eral’s his­toric visit when he planned the Bat­tle of Tren­ton that helped the colonists win the Rev­o­lu­tion­ary War. Thomas and Mrs. Bar­clay will greet the Gen­eral and vis­i­tors, hear his his­toric words of en­cour­age­ment and min­gle with his troops.

sisi­tors can then en­joy a colo­nial chair can­ing demon­stra­tion, visit with a colo­nial den­tist, en­joy the hol­i­day dec­o­ra­tions and ginger­bread house room, be a kid again as the Delaware sal­ley Chap­ter of the Na­tional His­toric Rail­way So­ci­ety presents a toy, scale and N-gauge train dis­play, or pur­chase a hot dog and soup lunch to ward off the cold of the VHDVRN. BDNH VDOH LWHPV, UDIflHV for fund-rais­ing bas­kets and HMS me­men­tos and books can also be pur­chased for a nom­i­nal charge.

Sum­merseat served as the head­quar­ters for Gen­eral Washington and his troops from Dec. 8-14 in 177S and this an­nual event cel­e­brates this piv­otal event in Amer­i­can his­tory.
