Ner­vous mo­ments on the Delaware River

LOWER MAKEFIELD – There were some anx­ious mo­ments Satur­day morn­ing along the Delaware River af­ter a caller re­ported see­ing a swim­mer van­ish­ing un­der wa­ter.

Fire­fight­ers from the vard­leyMake­field Fire Com­pany and West Tren­ton sol­un­teer Fire Com­pany (Ewing Town­ship, Ng) were dis­patched just be­fore NM a.m.

vard­ley-Makefield Fire Com­pany Spe­cial Ser­vice M launched Marine M from the vard­ley Ac­cess Area Boat Ramp while Deputy Fire Chief Charles ‘Bubba’ Schlosser ran Marine Com­mand. The West Tren­ton sol­un­teer Fire Com­pany staged equip­ment and man­power in the ac­cess area park­ing lot to as­sist.

vard­ley-Makefield Fire Com­pany Lieu­tenant Barry Di­nola and fire­fighter Greg Kobol con­ducted an ex­ten­sive search of the Delaware River in Marine M and came up empty. The call ended up be­ing un­founded.

Marine M re­turned to shore and was loaded back onto Spe­cial Ser­vice M’s trailer and re­turned to quar­ters.

Lower Makefield Town­ship and vard­ley Bor­ough.po­lice wre also on hand. that had van­ished from sight while swim­ming.
