Hit-and-run, retail theft ... John Forell, 49, of the unit block of Plymwood Drive, Plymouth Meeting, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving and multiple other charges for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident following an incident at the Whitpain Tavern, 1529 Dekalb Pike, at 1:02 a.m. Aug. 4, police said. Police responded to a report of an intoxicated patron trying to leave in a dark colored Ford, and as police were en route, they received a report the man, later identified at Forell, had left traveling south on Dekalb, police said. An employee told police he attempted to stop Forell from leaving and was struck by the front bumper of Forell’s car, causing the employee to fall on the hood of the car, police said. Forell then struck a parked vehicle and drove onto Dekalb with the employee still hanging onto the hood, police said. Forell pulled into the parking lot at Blue Bell Motor Cars on Swede Road, and the employee got off the hood, police said. A witness had followed the car and tried to block the driveway, but Forell struck that car and drove off, police said. The employee was checked by Second Alarmers Ambulance Squad, police said. A warrant was issued for Forell’s arrest, and he turned himself into police and was arraigned before District Judge Robert Sobeck, with bail set at $10,000 unsecured, police said.
In a previous incident, police responded to diant Food Store, 17S0 Dekalb Pike, at 5:04 p.m. March 28 for a report of a man, later identified as Forell, who entered the store, drank a Red Bull and left without paying, police said. When approached by a store employee, Forell refused to pay and began swearing at the employee before driving off, police said. Forell plead guilty to retail theft and disorderly conduct, police said.
Public drunkenness ... Jennifer Cassidy, 27, of the unit block of kyack Avenue, iansdowne, was cited for public drunkenness after police responded to a report of a woman laying along the side of Dekalb Pike at Blue Bell Springs Drive at 1:51 a.m. Aug. 9, police said. Cassidy was obviously intoxicated and placed under arrest before being released to a friend, police said.
Stolen vehicle ... Whitpain police received a call from korristown police at 2:48 a.m. Aug. 9 regarding a black Ford F250 Super Duty truck that was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Sheffield Drive July 28, police said. korristown police recovered the truck in the area of Dekalb Pike and East Freedley Street, korristown, police said. Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to call the Whitpain Township Police Department at S10-279-9033.
Retail theft ... Daniel David, 30, of the 700 block of Astor Street, korristown, was charged with retail theft, possessing an instrument of crime and harassment after police responded to hohl’s Department Store, 1301 Skippack Pike, for a report of a retail theft in progress at 4:25 p.m. Aug. 11, police said. Employees reported a man, later identified as David, picked up four pairs of sneakers, cut the security tags from the items and put them in a bag, police said. As David left the store, the loss prevention officer attempted to stop him, and David pushed the employee and fled but was taken into police custody shortly after, police said. Four pairs of sneakers valued at $305 and a pair of pliers were found in his bag, police said. David was arraigned before District Judge Edward hropp, and bail was set at $10,000 unsecured, police said.
