Rosina Gore

Rosina D. Gore, 90, died Fri­day, Aug. 31, 2012, at her home in Ambler, Pa.

Born in Philadel­phia, Pa., she was the daugh­ter of the late Ni­cola and blisa Enee DiLullo) DiLullo. Mrs. Gore was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, bu­gene F. Gore, in 1985.

She was a grad­u­ate of the Univer­sity of Penn­syl­va­nia in 1941 with a de­gree in French and ed­u­ca­tion and was a mem­ber of the Chi Omega soror­ity. She re­ceived her mas­ter ’s de­gree from Vil­lanova Univer­sity in Span­ish lit­er­a­ture in 1966.

Rosina started her opera ca­reer as a soloist with the Philadel­phia Lyric Opera from 1957 to 1965 and per­formed with the Miami Opera, the Philadel­phia Lit­tle Lyric Opera Theater and the Theater of the Liv­ing Arts. She be­gan her sec­ond ca­reer of teach­ing at Gwynedd Mercy Academy, where she taught Span­ish from 1963 to 1973, and she taught in the bnglish as a sec­ond lan­guage pro­gram in the Philadel­phia pub­lic schools from 1974 un­til her re­tire­ment in 1986. She men­tored many as­pir­ing mu­si­cians in the Ambler area for over 35 years.

Mrs. Gore was a mem­ber of St. An­thony of Padua Church in Ambler, where she served as the mu­sic di­rec­tor for over 20 years prior to her re­tire­ment in 1996. She served on the board of di­rec­tors of the Ambler Sym­phony and was a mem­ber of the Amer­i­can Fed­er­a­tion of Teach­ers.

Rosina was the de­voted mother of David b. Gore of Orange, Calif., Gre­gory J. Gore of Doylestown, Pa., and blissa M. Gore New vork, N.v. She was the lov­ing grand­mother of Greta Matzner-Gore and Janne Matzner-Gore, both of New vork, N.v.

Rel­a­tives and friends may call Satur­day Sept. 15, 2012, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. An­thony of Padua Church, 259 For­est Ave., Ambler, PA 19002 with a funeral Mass at 10: 30 a.m. with the Rev. Mon­signor Stephen McHenry as cel­e­brant. In­ter­ment will be in Holy Sepul­chre Ceme­tery, Chel­tenham.

Re­mem­brances in her name to St. An­thony of Padua Church’s Mu­sic Min­istry, at the above ad­dress, would be ap­pre­ci­ated by the fam­ily.
