Man held in theft of payment box from Dewey-Humboldt Town Court
DEWEY — A man is in custody in connection with the theft of the DeweyHumboldt Town Court’s payment box and a burglary at a gas station.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say 33-year-old Christopher Loeffler has been booked into the Camp Verde jail on suspicion of two counts each of trespassing and burglary and one count each of possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say Loeffler was in the courthouse the day before the Aug. 22 theft and had asked about how to deposit a fine in the box.
They also say he was seen on a security camera in the courthouse’s lobby the day of the theft.
During the investigation, sheriff’s officials say an arm tattoo tied Loeffler to the Sept. 7 burglary of the Blue Ridge Market in Dewey.
