Ryczek, Edward F.
78 of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away on 10/8/2017. Formerly of Hamburg, NY. A graduate of St. Francis High School in 1956, he served in the US Army in Korea from 1956 to 1958. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1971 from the University of Buffalo. Ed began his career in Computer Science in 1961 with General Electric. He joined McDonald Products (Duk-it) in 1967 as a Data Processing Manager and installed the company’s first computer system. It began a 25 year career with McDonald Products, eventually being promoted to Controller in 1973 and VP of Finance in 1979-1992. In 1985 he also began a 15 year part-time career as a computer instructor at Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY using a main frame computer and later PC’s. Courses were centered on the MS Office software with applied Business Applications. He later joined Signore Corporation of Ellicottville, NY and served as VP of Finance before moving to Arizona in 1999. He joined Gould Electronics of Chandler, AZ as Controller, and retired in 2004. In the 1990’s, Ed became a Board member of University at Buffalo’s School of Management’s Alumni Association. In 2001 he became the first President of UB’s Alumni Association - Phoenix Chapter and served until 2013. Ed received UB’s voluntary recognition award at the UB Alumni Achievement awards ceremony in 2013 for his many years of volunteering. Ed was on the board for the former 40’s/50’s Club at his Sun Lakes Community. An avid sports fan and Buffalo Bills fan he was a season ticket holder for over 30 years and attended three Bills Superbowls. In Arizona, he volunteered as an Usher during MLB Cactus League spring training games. Loving wife Joanne (Bracci) of 56 years, dear father of Deborah (Sal) DiCiccio, Diane Ryczek, Janet (Andy) Collins and granddaughters Anna and Emilia DiCiccio, son of the late Frank and Genevieve Ryczek, brother of Irene Tomasulo (late Frank), Bernard (Elizabeth) Ryczek, Ted (Martha) Ryczek. A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Steven’s Church, 24827 S. Dobson Road at 10am, Saturday, October 14th.
