78 of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away on 10/8/2017. For­merly of Ham­burg, NY. A grad­u­ate of St. Fran­cis High School in 1956, he served in the US Army in Korea from 1956 to 1958. He re­ceived a Bach­e­lor’s of Sci­ence de­gree in 1971 from the Univer­sity of Buf­falo. Ed be­gan his ca­reer in Com­puter Sci­ence in 1961 with Gen­eral Elec­tric. He joined McDon­ald Prod­ucts (Duk-it) in 1967 as a Data Pro­cess­ing Man­ager and in­stalled the com­pany’s first com­puter sys­tem. It be­gan a 25 year ca­reer with McDon­ald Prod­ucts, even­tu­ally be­ing pro­moted to Con­troller in 1973 and VP of Fi­nance in 1979-1992. In 1985 he also be­gan a 15 year part-time ca­reer as a com­puter in­struc­tor at Hil­bert Col­lege in Ham­burg, NY us­ing a main frame com­puter and later PC’s. Cour­ses were cen­tered on the MS Of­fice soft­ware with ap­plied Busi­ness Ap­pli­ca­tions. He later joined Sig­nore Cor­po­ra­tion of El­li­cottville, NY and served as VP of Fi­nance be­fore mov­ing to Ari­zona in 1999. He joined Gould Elec­tron­ics of Chan­dler, AZ as Con­troller, and re­tired in 2004. In the 1990’s, Ed be­came a Board mem­ber of Univer­sity at Buf­falo’s School of Man­age­ment’s Alumni As­so­ci­a­tion. In 2001 he be­came the first Pres­i­dent of UB’s Alumni As­so­ci­a­tion - Phoenix Chap­ter and served un­til 2013. Ed re­ceived UB’s vol­un­tary recog­ni­tion award at the UB Alumni Achieve­ment awards cer­e­mony in 2013 for his many years of vol­un­teer­ing. Ed was on the board for the for­mer 40’s/50’s Club at his Sun Lakes Com­mu­nity. An avid sports fan and Buf­falo Bills fan he was a sea­son ticket holder for over 30 years and at­tended three Bills Su­per­bowls. In Ari­zona, he vol­un­teered as an Usher dur­ing MLB Cac­tus League spring train­ing games. Lov­ing wife Joanne (Bracci) of 56 years, dear fa­ther of Deb­o­rah (Sal) DiCic­cio, Diane Ry­czek, Janet (Andy) Collins and grand­daugh­ters Anna and Emilia DiCic­cio, son of the late Frank and Genevieve Ry­czek, brother of Irene To­ma­sulo (late Frank), Bernard (El­iz­a­beth) Ry­czek, Ted (Martha) Ry­czek. A funeral mass of Chris­tian burial will be cel­e­brated at St. Steven’s Church, 24827 S. Dob­son Road at 10am, Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 14th.
