Lightning 4, HURRICANES 2: Ondrej Palat snapped a tie 8:04 into the third period, and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 on Monday night. Palat, Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman each had a goal and an assist for the Lightning.
Flames 3, MAPLE LEAFS 0: David Rittich made 34 saves for his first shutout of the season and fourth of his career as the Flames beat NHL-leading Toronto 3-0 on Monday. Matthew Tkachuk and Sean Monahan each had a goal and an assist, and Sam Bennett added a goal for Calgary.
PANTHERS 3, Stars 1: Aaron Ekblad and Keith Yandle scored, Chris Driedger made 24 saves and the Florida Panthers beat the slumping, rusty Dallas Stars 3-1 on Monday night. Aleksander Barkov scored an empty-net goal to seal the Panthers’ sixth win in eight games. Blake Comeau scored for Dallas.
ISLANDERS 3, Sabres 2: Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a tiebreaking power-play goal in the third period and Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves, leading the New York Islanders to a 3-2 win over the lastplace Buffalo Sabres on Monday night.
Kings 3, BLUES 0: Dustin Brown scored two goals and veteran Jonathan Quick stopped 30 shots for his 54th career shutout, lifting the Kings to a 3-0 victory over the Blues on Monday. It was the second shutout this season for the 35year-old Quick, who helped the Kings win two Stanley Cup championships in his career. Gabriel Vilardi added a goal for the Kings.
Golden Knights at AVALANCHE, late: The Avalanche are 8-4-1 against the rest of their division. Colorado is 10th in the NHL recording 8.7 points per game, averaging 3.2 goals and 5.5 assists. The Golden Knights are 10-3-1 against the rest of their division.
Ducks at COYOTES, late: The Coyotes are 7-7-3 against opponents in the West Division. Arizona has converted on 20.6% of power-play opportunities, recording 13 power-play goals. Anaheim scores 1.8 goals per game, the fewest in the NHL.
Wild at SHARKS, late: San Jose averages 8.9 penalty minutes per game, the 10thmost in the NHL. The Wild are 8-6-0 against the rest of their division. Minnesota averages 10.1 penalty minutes per game, the fifth-most in the NHL.
