Steelers make Brown highest-paid WR

-

The Steelers and Antonio Brown reportedly agreed to a new five-year contract Monday for $72.7 million that will make Brown the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.

Brown, 28, had one year remaining on a five-year, $42 million contract. The first year of Brown’s new deal replaces the final year of his previous one, meaning that he’s under contract through the 2021 season.

Brown is the first receiver in Steelers history to finish with 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches in three straight seasons.

The Steelers also announced they placed the franchise tag on Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell.

Panthers: Carolina applied the franchise tag to defensive tackle Kawann Short and re-signed defensive end Wes Horton to a two-year contract.

Giants: New York reportedly told defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul that he will be made a franchise player.

Cardinals: Arizona placed the franchise tag on outside linebacker Chandler Jones.

Browns: Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins had his contract terminated after three seasons in Cleveland.

Chiefs: Starting right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif reportedly agreed to a five-year, $41.25 million contract extension.
