City get­ting $21K for vets’ adap­tive sports

Roswell has agreed to ac­cept $21,080 from the fed­eral gov­ern­ment to pur­chase equip­ment and hire in­struc­tors for new VA Wheelchair Soft­ball and Adap­tive Cy­cling pro­grams for dis­abled vet­er­ans.

The City Coun­cil ap­proved a res­o­lu­tion ac­cept­ing the FY 201 Adap­tive Sports Grant from the U.S. De­part­ment of Vet­er­ans Af­fairs. The grant does not re­quire lo­cal match­ing funds, ac­cord­ing to a staff re­port to the coun­cil.

The Roswell Recre­ation, Parks, His­toric and Cul­tural Af­fairs De­part­ment will be re­spon­si­ble for the adap­tive sports pro­gram.
