Breweries, distilleries to be part of alcohol rules

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - - COUNTY BY COUNTY - KAREN HUPPERTZ FOR THE AJC

The Lilburn City Council voted recently to expand the city’s alcohol ordinance to accommodate distillery and brewery operations. The move, meant to better comply with new state law, creates a distillery license and a brewery license.

The revised code limits the production of distilled spirits to 5,000 barrels and/or 3,000 barrels of malt beverages per year. A barrel means 53 gallons for distilled spirits and 31 gallons for malt beverages.

The city currently has one distillery, Hope Springs Distillery, at 4839 Railroad Ave.
