The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - - COUNTY BY COUNTY - PAMELA MILLER FOR THE AJC

Post 1 At-Large City Councilman Michael Julian Bond has sent out a survey series to learn more about the civic engagement of young Atlantans. The survey, which targets people ages 18 to 39, focuses on community participation and information gathering, civic knowledge and accessibility, and attitudes about local government.

“I was hearing anecdotes where young people confided in me that they felt discouraged. They say that their voice isn’t being heard and their concerns aren’t being taken seriously,” Bond said. “My goal with this survey is to encourage their engagement and find out what matters to them.”

Bond also hopes to learn more about survey respondents’ knowledge of city officials and resources, their thoughts on how to impact community decisions, the extent to which they engage with their communities, and any other thoughts they have about city government and ways of making an impact.
