Q: I am a World War II veteran. How many WWII veterans are still alive?

A: Data for 2017 from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs shows that 624,000 WWII veterans are still alive.

The group is among a total veteran population of 20 million, according to the VA’s Veteran Population Projection Model 2016.

The VA projection model shows that total veteran population is expected to decrease from 20 million in 2017 to 13.6 million in 2037. The projection­s also show that Georgia is one of the top 10 states where veterans currently live and will live over the next two decades, according to the National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics.

Currently, the largest veteran cohort is Gulf War veterans, with 7.27 million.

Q: What year did WSB switch its affiliatio­n from NBC to ABC?

—John Glover, McDonough A: WSB-TV switched the network affiliatio­n from NBC to the ABC on Jan. 1, 1981, according to its website.

WSB is part of Cox Media Group, which also owns The Atlanta Journal-Constituti­on.
