Comprehensive plan update in works

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - - COUNTY BY COUNTY - KAREN HUPPERTZ FOR THE AJC

Berkeley Lake is working on a what Mayor Lois Salter calls a “minor update” to the city’s Comprehensive Plan. This update is part of a routine five-year work program cycle outlined in the 2014 Comprehensive Plan document, which can be found on the city’s website atpPlan.

The purpose of this update is to assess the city’s progress on the 2014 work program, determine if there are any significant changes that would affect the plan’s stated goals, and set the next 5-year work program. Professional staff from the Atlanta Regional Commission are facilitating the planning process.

Citizens are invited to attend an open house 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 and a public hearing with the city council at 8 p.m. Nov. 15. Both of these events will take place at City Hall, 4040 S. Berkeley Lake Road. The goal is to have the final document approved by the council at the Nov. 15 meeting. From there, it will be transmitted to the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for review.
