Crime victims are invited to speak to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles in Gainesville on Oct. 23.

The event, to be held at Lakewood Baptist Church, will be the board’s 30th Victims Visitors’ Day since 2006 and the first in Hall County. The victims can speak about their cases with parole staff and board members, who will add the information shared to the confidential files of the convicted offenders. Victims can also sign up to receive updates about the parole status of the inmates.

“The crime victim’s role in Georgia’s parole process is vital,” Board Member David Herring said in a news release. “Although it will be emotional for many victims, I am looking forward to being able to listen and learn.”

The event will start at 9 a.m. and last throughout the day. Victims are asked to schedule their meeting by calling 404-651-5717 by Oct. 22.
