Not so fast, Grammer and Long
Reading the article, “Local legislators brief residents on legislative progress” ( May 5, 2016, Avenue News), Republican Del. Robin Grammer ( 6th District) is quoted saying, “( He) thinks we got a lot of really great things accomplished. There are a lot of really great things on the horizon for this district”. Whatever Grammer is talking about, it happened without his support!
Republican delegates Robin Grammer and Bob Long voted against the passage of the Capital Budget Senate Bill 191 on the third and final reading according to the Maryland Department of Legislative Ser vices.
What does their NO vote mean to taxpayers? It means Grammer and Long voted to stop the investment of our state tax dollars back into our communities — Dundalk, Essex, Edgemere, Middle River, Fort Howard and Rosedale.
Here is a partial list. GOP delegates Grammer and Long did not support funding for air conditioning renovations at Bear Creek Elementary School and Grange Elementary School. Grammer and Long did not support funding for the renovation and expansion of the Health Careers and Technology Building at Essex Community College which is attended by Essex, Rosedale, and Dundalk college students. Grammer and Long voted against the Chesapeake Bay Water Quality Program for nutrient removal at the Back River waste water treatment plant. The Baltimore County Fire Department did not have their support when they voted against funding to purchase a rescue boat and equipment. Other projects Grammer and Long opposed were funding for streetscaping and against funding the Desert Storm/ Operation Enduring Freedom/ Operation Iraqi Freedom Memorial as well as the expansion of the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
