BCoPD re­mind teens: Drink­ing and driv­ing is il­le­gal and dan­ger­ous

May is a time for proms and grad­u­a­tions. Teens want to cel­e­brate af­ter work­ing hard all year, but this can be a dan­ger­ous time if they aren’t care­ful.

Peer pres­sure can fac­tor in when mak­ing de­ci­sions such as whether to drink and drive. Bal­ti­more County Po­lice hope teens will make the right de­ci­sion not to drive while un­der

the in­flu­ence of drugs and al­co­hol. Teenage drink­ing is il­le­gal.

Any­one un­der 21 who pur­chases or pos­sesses al­co­hol can be fined $ 500 for the first of­fense and $ 1,000 for a sec­ond of­fense.

Any­one un­der the age of 21 caught Driv­ing Un­der the In­flu­ence ( DUI) — al­co­hol in the sys­tem — risks los­ing the right to drive for up to one year. For a sec­ond of­fense, the sus­pen­sion is in­creased to two years.
